Thorns of a wilting rose

         He crossed
   my path many times
today, I wish more than
 anything that he would
  just go away. I curse
    my heart for falling
     down my sleeve,
    for everyone to see,
            so easily
           deceived.
             I regret
               ever
             feeling
               any
              kind
   of attraction,
       his charm
              and
              false
           kindness
               an
             easy
            distraction.
            Hatred
             and
           embarr-
          -assment
           cloud
              my
           heart,
     a constant
       reminder
         of who
               he
             was
             not.
              Oh
              the
        pain of
 invisibility, I
            have
            come
            back
            to this
            reality.
            For he
            is but
            a shallow
            schoolboy, and
            I? A naïve,
            foolish
            and
            broken
            hearted
            girl.
